Coaching is to be a parent activity whenever possible. However, any person who is willing to coach may do so, if approved by the parish director. The coach will be in complete charge of his team. There will be NO coaching by by-standers. Any league official observing a game and not acting in the capacity of an umpire is considered a by-stander. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COACH TO ASSIST THE UMPIRE IN QUIETING DISTURBANCES INVOLVING PLAYERS AND SPECTATORS. The coach will keep his players in the area designated as the dug-out. Players and spectators will not be allowed directly behind the backstop during the game.

ALL COACHES AND ASSISTANT COACHES MUST ATTEND THE PRE-SEASON COACHES TRAINING SESSION, AND THE SAFE ENVIRONMENT WORKSHOP TO BE HELD AT A TIME AND PLACE ESTABLISHED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. THE COACHES/ASSISTANT COACHES MUST SIGN ATTENDANCE SHEETS AND BE PRESENT FOR THE ENTIRE COACHES TRAINING SESSION. ANY COACH NOT ATTENDING THE MEETING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE AS A COACH IN PRACTICES/GAMES. EXCUSED ABSENCES MUST RECEIVE PRIOR APPROVAL FROM THE CHAIRMAN.

Base coaching can be done by players, coaches, or any combination thereof. One player or coach will be allowed at 1st and 3rd bases in the designated coaching boxes. Player-coaches, bat boys or girls will wear helmets.

No parent or spectator will be permitted on the field of play, unless designated by a coach, assistant coach, or umpire, except where his or her child may be injured. No foul language will be tolerated by any coaches, players, or spectators. Time-outs will be allowed as the rule book states.

If a coach is banished from a game by a league assigned umpire twice during a season, he or she may no longer be allowed to participate in the association in any manner for a minimum of one (1) year. He may be reinstated after being certified by ACEP training. Prior to each game, coaches from both teams will sign the game card provided by the umpire. If there is no umpire at the game, both coaches will each sign two separate game cards—both to be turned into the league.

Winning coaches will phone in the results of their games every week to an assigned division scorekeeper who will keep current division standings.
